Managing Your Professional Identity in the 21st Century:

Professionalism in the Workplace and School:

Ideas for incorporating professionalism at Minarets:

Here are a few ideas that have been tossed around as ways to develop and instill professionalism in our students. Please take a look, ask questions if you have them, and then head over to the discussion board and post your thoughts and ideas!

1) Institute a "Professional Dress Day"
This could be weekly, bi-weekly, monthly - whatever the pleasure of the group, but would give students the opportunity to "look the part"

2) Award "Professional Points" to students
This would be awarding students points for exhibiting professionalism in their everyday lives (ie: responding to e-mails in a timely manner, encouraging dialogue with peers, showing up on time, etc).

3) Institute workshops for students on professionalism
Time could be built into the schedule so that students would have an opportunity to learn the aspects of professionalism and how to incorporate them into their lives. These seminars could be hosted by staff or students.

4) Require that every student on campus become a member of a Career Technical Student Organization
Organizations like FFA, FBLA, FHA-HERO, SkillsUSA encourage students to not only develop as leaders within their schools
and communities, but they also inherently teach professionalism to their members.

5) Develop "professional curriculum" where each teacher on campus is in charge of teaching a unit of professionalism in their class.
This strategy would allow us as a staff to each take part in instilling professionalism to our students.
